Odar Meanchey Province, situated between Banteay Meanchey and Preah Vihear Provice is probably the most overlooked province in Cambodia when it comes to Tourism, however it has very distict places in Cambodia's history. In Ancient times, it was the main Angkorian Route from Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, to Phi Mai, in Nakon Rachasima Province in Thailand. What is significant about this is not the construction of temples, but rather Jayavarman 7 vision to ensure passage by constructing bridges. the number of bridges .Dharmasalas (a religious resting place) and Trapeangs (pools for elephants) were contructed along the way. Read more from our Isaan page. Oddar Meanchey was heavily mined by the Vietnamese during the Khmer Rouge to keep Thailand from invading, and consequently more mines were placed by the Khmer Rouge as they were driven north. Anlong Veng is where Pol Pot's house is located as well as his grave.

CLEARING A MINE FIELD
This trip would not have been possible with out the likes of CMAC, MAG, Halo Trust and others. We have great appreciation for their efforts.
